Round Table on Access to Rational Treatment for Gynaecological Morbidities and Prevention of Unnecessary Hysterectomies in Karnataka

Prayas with support of UNFPA, and in collaboration with St John’s Medical College and Hospital and SOCHARA organized a round table on “Access to Rational Treatment for Gynaecological Morbidities and Prevention of Unnecessary Hysterectomies in Karnataka”

On Monday, 18th December 2023 from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm at Cardinal Gracious Hall, St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore.

This event was planned in the backdrop of national guidelines formulated by the maternal health division of the MoHFW, Govt. of India to prevent un-indicated hysterectomies. These guidelines make it mandatory that data of each hysterectomy is collected in the prescribed format and fed into the national portal of the Government of India through district and state monitoring committees constituted for this.

The round table will discuss the guidelines, data collection proforma and explore patterns, identify barriers and priorities to improve women’s overall access to reproductive health care in Karnataka. It will be attended mainly by
obstetricians/gynecologists, other medical and public health professionals, policy makers, ethicists and those who are engaged in improving access to health care services.
