The Jana Arogya Andolana Karnataka’s (JAAK) “Karnataka State Health Policy Brief” is a short paper that conveys urgent health policy concerns in the state and demands courses of action to resolve them.
The brief begins with an assessment of the current state of health and health system of the state, then critiques existing health policies and practices and concludes with policy recommendations. The policy brief is being used as a tool for advocacy across the state by the JAAK partners to make Health as an important issue in the upcoming elections in the state of Karnataka in May 2008.
The document was developed through a consultation process in the JAAK core group and was endorsed in the Karnataka state level meeting of JAAK partners.
